Teh Yong Xin (Kate)
Clinical Psychologist
Yong Xin is a registered Clinical Psychologist and Counsellor who believes that therapy begins with empathy and the creation of a safe, grounded space where individuals can feel seen, heard, and supported. She approaches her work with the belief that meaningful change is built on safety, connection, and collaboration.
She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a Bachelor’s degree in Guidance and Counselling from Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). She has trained across diverse settings, including NGOs, private practices, and university clinics. Her clinical placements include Than Hsiang Mitra Welfare (Kuala Lumpur), Labyrinth Psychological Centre, and UKM Klinik Psikologi Kesihatan (KPK-UKM). She has also been involved in community mental health collaborations, including substance-use support and cancer-care programs in hospital settings.
Her professional experience includes supporting individuals with depression, anxiety, and mood-related concerns, as well as neurodivergent children and adolescents. With her background in counselling, Yong Xin also has extensive experience working with adolescents facing family issues, interpersonal challenges, stress, and adjustment difficulties. She works closely with parents to enhance understanding, emotional regulation, and family communication.
Yong Xin’s therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Family Systemic Therapy (FST). She values tailoring evidence-based interventions to each client’s needs, strengths, and cultural context, and is committed to walking alongside her clients as they navigate growth, healing, and meaningful change.
