Considering online therapy in Malaysia often begins with practical questions: Can I attend after work? Which professional should I choose? What does a session cost? And how private will the appointment be?
You do not need to have everything worked out before asking about support. Understanding the service first can help you make an informed choice, without committing before you are ready.
What is evening online therapy?
Online therapy is a professional appointment conducted remotely rather than in a clinic room. InnerHope offers evening appointments, subject to your selected professional’s availability. Check the available times when booking rather than assuming a particular slot is open.
You join from a private space using an internet-connected device. InnerHope’s published online-care information states that sessions use Google Meet. Follow the instructions provided for your appointment, and contact the admin team if you need help with the arrangements.
Not travelling to a clinic can simplify the logistics, but an online appointment still needs your time and privacy. Avoid joining while driving, working or somewhere that other people can overhear you.
Self-check, consultation or therapy?
These are different starting points. A questionnaire is not the same as speaking with a professional, and screening is not a prerequisite for booking.
- Free self-screening: a self-guided PHQ-9 or GAD-7 questionnaire, not a diagnosis or professional appointment.
- A Taste of Therapy, RM80: one 30-minute screening and consultation with a professional.
- Individual therapy, RM220: one 60-minute first or follow-up session.
- Five-session package, RM990: five 60-minute sessions, valid for one year.
These are the fees displayed on InnerHope’s website at publication. Review the final service, professional, fee and terms on SafeTalk before paying. For psychiatric appointments, ask the admin team about the appropriate service and fee rather than assuming therapy prices apply.
The free screening tools provide a symptom-range result, not a diagnosis. The questionnaires currently remain in English, including on the BM and Chinese website pages. They are not monitored for urgent support.
Choose a professional and language
Start with the professional profiles. Compare qualifications, areas of support and languages, then ask the admin team if you need help identifying an appropriate option. A profile introduces a professional’s work; it does not by itself establish whether a service is suitable for you.
Across the team, languages include English, Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin, Hokkien and Tamil. Not every professional offers every language. Confirm your preference and the service you are booking before payment.
The website is available in English, Bahasa Melayu and Simplified Chinese. Your website language does not automatically select the appointment language or change SafeTalk’s interface.
Prepare for your first online session
Choose a quiet room where you can speak without interruption. Check your internet, camera and microphone beforehand. Headphones can help with listening and privacy; keep your appointment instructions close by.
You may want to note what prompted the appointment and any questions you have. You do not need a complete personal history or a perfectly organised explanation. If you are unsure how to begin, tell the professional. Ask how the appointment will work and what information they need.
Ask about privacy and appointment terms
Before sharing sensitive information, read the privacy notice and online-care and confidentiality guidance. Confidentiality has legal and safety limits; it is not a promise that information can never be disclosed. Ask your professional to explain these limits if anything is unclear.
For an initial administrative enquiry, you can ask about fees, languages and availability without sending a detailed clinical history. Avoid posting personal clinical information in public comments or reviews.
InnerHope currently states that bookings are non-refundable and package sessions are valid for one year. Before paying, ask about rescheduling, missed appointments and what happens if a professional needs to change an appointment. Read the booking terms and applicable checkout terms.
How to book an evening appointment
- Compare services, fees and professionals on InnerHope’s website.
- Continue to SafeTalk, the external booking platform.
- Select your service, professional and an available time.
- Review the final details and terms, complete the process and check that confirmation is shown.
Professional-profile buttons share one SafeTalk destination. Choose the professional within the booking platform; a profile button does not automatically select them.
Common questions
Can I book without completing a screening?
Yes. The free questionnaires are optional and separate from professional appointments. You can ask about consultation or therapy directly.
Is online therapy suitable for everyone?
No. Suitability depends on your needs and circumstances. Ask the team about an appropriate service; another setting or provider may be recommended. InnerHope does not provide emergency response.
Can I attend from anywhere in Malaysia?
InnerHope describes its service as Malaysia-wide online care. You still need a private setting, reliable internet and an appointment appropriate to your needs. Confirm any location-related arrangements with the team before booking.
Take the next step with clear information
If evening online therapy may fit your schedule, explore InnerHope’s service options. You can ask about a language match, suitability or appointment arrangements before deciding.
InnerHope is not an emergency service. If someone is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to the nearest emergency department. Do not wait for an online appointment in an emergency.
